British Dutch Airlines (BDA) is an exciting new international airline which intends to operate on long-haul trans-Atlantic routes flying from Amsterdam (Schiphol) and London (Stansted) to the Caribbean using a “scissor-hub” operation in St Maarten to service Curacao (Netherlands Antilles), Paramaribo (Suriname) and destinations throughout the Caribbean via its regional feeder subsidiary low cost carrier British Dutch Caribbean.
The company has identified a specific opportunity in the trans-Atlantic travel sector where Dutch carrier KLM/ Air France has for very many years operated a high priced and highly profitable route against sporadic competition from minor carriers, and; additionally to challenge Emirates on its domination of direct flights from South America to the Middle East.
BDA also intends to operate a route to Shenzhen which is is one of the largest cities in China not to have a direct air service to Europe. The entire business will be underpinned by a network of hubs, combining long-haul routes with the short-haul networks of local partners such as EasyJet and Shenzhen Airlines and/or subsidiaries. China represents an expanding market for aviation with airlines looking to provide services to cities beyond Shanghai and Beijing. Long-haul traffic from Shenzhen can be fed on to Westbound flights to open up the Asia-Caribbean market which is a fast growing tourist destination for China.
BDA will bring together core markets in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to connect with expanding business destinations in East Asia, the Caribbean and beyond
The trans Atlantic opportunity is further enhanced by the growing economic, political, and business expansion between Europe, the Gulf States, the Caribbean and South America. Taking into account the expanded relations and support from the Netherlands plus the high priority of tourism development in Curacao and the expanding business relations between the Middle East and South America; the company has the perfect opening for initiating its operations. BDA intend to concentrate on providing a high quality service putting safety foremost and being a British airline this will greatly enhance global consumer confidence. The intention is to make flying with BDA an enjoyable experience ensuring a loyal customer base.
